In 2019,Nicolas Bernd was elected from among numerous applicants to the prestigious position of “Wenzelsorganist / Titulaire du grand Orgue de Hildebrandt de Naumburg”. This gives him responsibility for the world-famous Hildebrandt organ from 1746, the only authentically preserved large organ that Johann Sebastian Bach played a key role in designing and also approved. There he is also the artistic director of the renowned "International Organ Summer" and the music festival "Hildebrandt Tage".

Nicolas Berndt regularly performs concerts throughout Germany and abroad, also with ensembles such as the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Saxon Baroque Orchestra, and the Gewandhaus Orchestra. His musical activities have been awarded with numerous scholarships, including those from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. He has been invited to festivals such as the Merseburg Organ Days, the Bonn Schumann Festival, and the "Excellent!" series at the Leipzig Bach Festival.

On December 6 at 7:00 PM, The Riga Dome Cathedral will host the most enchanting musical event of the season — Christmas Prelude by the world-renowned opera diva Inese Galante. On this festive evening, outstanding artists will take the stage to immerse the audience in the spirit of the warmest holiday of the year. Over time, this concert has become one of Latvia’s brightest pre-Christmas traditions and a true cultural hallmark of Riga.

This year’s program features the luminous countertenor and baroque music interpreter Sergejs Jēgers, the distinguished composer and organist Aivars Kalējs, the brilliant Latvian National Opera and Ballet soprano Inna Kločko, the soulful tenor and LNOB soloist Artem Safronov, and, of course, the evening’s star and centerpiece — opera diva Inese Galante. At the piano, the performers will be accompanied by the gifted pianist Aleksandrs Kalējs, winner of numerous international music competitions.

Staying true to one of the Inese Galante Foundation’s main missions — supporting young talents and helping them take their first steps on the big stage — the concert will also present performances by bright young rising stars, winners of the Inese Galante Talents competition. Adding to the evening’s touching and unforgettable atmosphere will be the performance of the Boys’ Choir of Riga’s First Jāzeps Mediņš Music School, conducted by Romans Vanags.
