Cintiņa Una
UNA CINTIŅA is the director of music at the Matthias Laurentius parish in Alkmaar (the Netherlands), organist and conductor of several choirs (Cantate Domino (Zoeterwoude), Chamber Choir Canticum Novum (Alkmaar), Gregorian Choir Schola Matthiae (Alkmaar) etc.)
She studied the piano at Emīls Dārziņš Music School, later she graduated from the Riga Dom Choir School as a Church Music Leader. Una Cintiņa graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in two specialities: Choir Conducting (prof. Sigvards Kļava) and the Organ (prof. Tālivaldis Deksnis). She attained her second Master’s degree at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam where she studied the organ with Jacques van Oortmerssen, conducting with Jos Vermunt, the harpsichord with Menno van Delft and classical singing with Hein Meens.
She has gained additional knowledge at several summer academies and master classes, for example, with Ton Koopman, Ludger Lohman, Hans Fagius, Joel Speersta, Olivier Latry, Lois Robilliard.
Una Cintiņa takes part in international festivals of contemporary music regularly, playing novel works of composers from different countries – she has performed the premieres of works by such composers as Kate Moore (Australia), Guiliano Bracci (Italy), Maximilian Schnaus (Germany), Claudio Baroni (Argentine), Maria Castro Espejo (Peru) and others.
The organist often takes part in concerts and unique projects in collaboration with other artists: actors, dancers, the puppet show etc., as well as performs with choirs, orchestras and soloists regularly.
