The Embassy of Sweden in Latvia presents a concert dedicated to St. Lucia’s Day.

St. Lucia’s Day, together with Advent, marks the beginning of the Christmas season. It is dedicated to Saint Lucia, the bearer of light and kindness, whose name comes from the Latin lux – “light.”
This tradition, originating in Sweden, is now also celebrated in Latvia. Lucia, dressed in white with a crown of candles on her head, symbolizes hope and warmth of heart in the darkest time of the year.
At its core, the celebration embodies kindness and compassion – a reminder to open our eyes and hearts to those in need of light and support.
